Editor Kate Laity’s announced the stories included in Fox Spirit Books’ upcoming Drag Noir anthology, including my own, “The Itch of Iron, The Pull of the Moon.” There are also stories by Noir comrades, Chloe Yates and Paul D. Brazill. See the full line-up at Fox Spirit’s website. I’m excited to read all the stories and to see what artist S.L. Johnson comes up with for the cover. I loved her covers for the other two books in the series, Weird Noir and Noir Carnival.
In the meantime, please enjoy this dashing picture of music hall performer, Vesta Tilley. And you can get a sense of what this anthology is all about from the original call for submissions:
That’s what we want for DRAG NOIR: this is a call for stories where glamour meets grit, where everyone’s wearing a disguise (whether they know it or not) and knowing the players takes a lot more than simply reading the score cards. Maybe everyone’s got something to hide, but they’ve got something to reveal, too. Scratch the surface and explore what secrets lie beneath — it’s bound to cost someone…a lot.
I’ll be writing more about this later–and maybe even post a little of my story. But for now, I’m excited to have my story included in this anthology.
