Carol talks about The Black Lizard (1962) on The Projection Booth

The Projection Booth Podcast’s Mike White kindly invited me on the show to talk about Umetsugu Inoue’s The Black Lizard (1962) with film critic Samm Deighan. We also discussed Kinji Fukasaku’s The Black Lizard (1968), starring drag and cabaret star Akihiro Miwa as the supercriminal the Black Lizard. The 1962 film is my favorite and stars Machiko Kyo as the supercriminal and I was so excited to discuss it with Mike and Samm. Both films were adapted from a play by Yukio Mishima. And Mishima, in turn, was adapting a novella by Edogawa Rampo.

Mike also interviewed a friend of mine for the episode, Earl Jackson, about the films, Rampo, Mishima, and the fantastic casts.

You can listen here. And you can read a piece I wrote on The Black Lizard (1962) for The Cultural Gutter here.
